Animals

Hi

I have just completed a off the page project.  This project was a long time coming as I am not usually a OTP scrapper.  It definitely took me out of my comfort zone!!  I finally decided on a book of animals as my 22 month old currently loves looking at books and animals ones are his favourite.  The papers and elements are from Kaisercrafts new range called "hummingbird".  The range is gorgeous!!  I also included some animals which I cut from the create a critter cartridge from cricut.  They worked well together!!

One of the items I received from Hobbysew Echuca was a pack of die cuts from Kaisercraft and when I undid it I was amazed at how many items there were in the pack. It is important when scrapbooking to get lots of bang for your buck and this pack certainly did that.  There were over 50 die cuts, including quotes, diecut animals and branches.  They were very versatile and I still have heaps left!!

Anyway I hope you enjoy my animal book and wishing you all a very merry christmas and a happy and healthy new year (with plenty of time to scrap!!!)

Challenge!!

Hi there,
I know what you are thinking and the answer is No.  I am not surrounded by an avalanche of tinsel!!  Then what possible reason do you have for not posting a blog, I hear you ask!!  I have been very slack, I know, but I think I have found a solution to my scrapping block.  I have just received my lastest pack as DT member of Hobbysew Echuca and in it was some gorgeous papers from Kaisercrafts soon to be released range called "Hummingbird".  I am very lucky to get hold of this beautiful range before they have been released!!  What is the challenge in that I hear you ask (you are very vocal today, aren't you!!).  That is not the challenge,  the challenge for me was what was also in the pack............. a chipboard album!!!!  Now I have an admission to make....... I have only done one Off the page project before.  I am a single and double LO girl only so this will be a challenge.   I have had quite a few ideas but I think I have decided what I want to do with it so stay tuned.....it could be very interesting......

Imagine

Hi
I love it when I see my children using their imagination.  They really do see things differently to adults, and it teaches me to think outside the box.  This is something that is great to do when scrapping as sometimes the most amazing LO's are created when you try a new technique or use supplies in a way you haven't used them before!!  I have called this LO "Imagine" as it shows my son using his imagination to dress up as an elephant!!  It was very cute and involved socks, a dorothy the dinosaur tail and a cap!!  The papers and elements that I used were from Bo Bunny's Ad-Lib range which are quite whimsical and I felt they really suited the theme of this LO!!

OMG!

I can't believe it has been over two months since I have scrapped and therefore posted a blog!!!  My mojo has well and truly been absent!!  I think a combination of sick kids, a husband having been away and a toddler who decided that 4.30am was a good time to wake up every morning was enough for my mojo to say adios!!  Anyhow, hubby is home now and all kids are well and sleeping better (until daylight savings starts that is!!) so hopefully I can sneak some scraping time and try and get some inspiration happening.....might need to check out some new supplies, that always helps!!!!

Here are two LO's I had completed but hadn't got around to posting.  Let me know what you think!

3 days old

Hi there

I have just finished a double LO of my beautiful little boy Hamish when he was 3 days old.  This LO highlights one of the things that I love about scrapbooking.  It really creates momentos for us all to look back on in years to come.  Hamish is nearly 18 months old now and when I was doing this LO I couldn't believe how much he has grown!  He was so small and now he is a very busy and robust little boy.  The time really does fly, especially when everyone is so busy.  It will be nice in years to come for him to look back and see how much he has grown!

1st wheels

Hi there

After having a bit more of a play around with the Kaisercraft "Toot Toot" papers and embellishments I came up with the single page LO "1st wheels". This layout is of my son who broke his leg and was in a wheelchair for 6 weeks.  Although I am not a fan of my own handwriting, I feel it is very important to include journalling about the stories behind the photos.  In the past I have used Microsoft Word to record my journalling and then printed this off.  I don't do that as much anymore as handwriting does make the LO more personal and it is another momento for future generations to observe.  It is a lot quicker as well!!!

Toot Toot

Hi

I have just completed a single page LO from my DT package (I know amazing, considering it is school holidays!!!)  It is using the "toot toot" range from Kaisercraft and I've also used a crane chipboard cut out that was also in the package.  I love the colours of this range, they can be either brightened up or muted down, depending on what you put them with.  As you can see I have used a lot of earthy colours as the photo in the LO shows my son playing with wooden offcuts,  but to brighten it a little bit I have used red for the photos border and the title.

New pack from Hobbysew

Hi,

I have just received my new DT pack from Hobbysew and can't wait to have a play around with it.  It is made up of papers and embellishments from Kaisercrafts new range "Little Toot".  Seeing as though I have two boys I don't think it will be too difficult to find some photos to go with this range!  Stay tuned to see what the end result is.....

Smile / Harrietville

Hi,

I have been a bit slack with the scrapping lately, life sometimes gets in the way!!  The first LO called Harrietville has been on my desk for two weeks, and I would get a little bit done at a time!  It is a little bit different to my usually style but I had some cricut cartridges that I had been itching to use and this LO was calling for them!!  This type of LO is great for using up those scraps of paper that accumulate (and therefore a great excuse to buy more supplies!!)

The second LO is called "smiling" and has been made using the "ad Lib" range from Bo Bunny.  I love this range, it is so adaptable.  Before finishing this LO I sprayed it with Tsukineko walnut ink antiquing solution which was very easy to use and looked great  (Note to self:  make sure you do this on a blank desk, "Harrietville" LO received an unintentional light spray as well!!!)

Wheels!

I have just completed two very similar themed LO's.  They have a common theme of wheels.  One is about a stage production of Thomas the Tank engine that my husband and son went to.  I have included in this LO the actual tickets as I think it adds to the LO and is also a way of showing information such as where, and when in a decorative way!!

The second LO is about my sons love of the "cars" movie and all the merchandise that went with it.  When he was 3 he could not get enough of anything to do with "cars".  I think it is important to scrap the big events in life, but also the everyday things.  This LO shows the everyday things that show my son what he was like at that age, and the things that he loved to do!  In the future I hope that he enjoys looking back and seeing the things that he loved at different ages!

its been awhile!!!

Hi
I have been a bit slack lately with my scrapbooking.  Sometimes you can get heaps done and sometimes not much at all.  One of the things that I love about scrapbooking is that it is always there for you whenever you are ready, what ever time of the day or night, when inspiration hits!!  This layout is called "bum shuffling" and is of my little girl.  She never crawled but instead would shuffle along on her bottom!! It was very cute, although it would lead to a lot of dirty pants!!! The papers that I have used are from the "Hey Birdie" collection from Kaisercraft.  It is a gorgeous range, very whimsical.

On the go and Grandfathers

I have completed two more LO's.  One is of my eldest son when he was 3.  It is titled "on the go" because he always was (and still is!!). It is a busy LO but I thought that it needed to be to suit the photos and the concept.  The papers that I used were from the Skull Boi range from Kasiercraft.

The second LO is titled "Grandfathers" and is of my daughter with her two grandfathers. I wanted this LO to be a bit masculine because it is of Grandfathers but as it is going in my daughters album I wanted it to have feminine elements as well.  The colours are quite strong but this has been softened by the use of flowers and scrolls.  The cardstock that I used for this LO is from Coredinations and has embossed flowers on it.  It might be a bit difficult to see but the flowers have been sanded to make them stand out more.  It was fun to attack it and the cardstock stood up really well to my sanding!

Two very different layouts!!

I have just completed these two very different layouts from the one range of papers.  The first one is very bright with many colours, whereas the second one is quite subdued, with  monotone colours.  They have both been created using mainly the Bubblegum Hills range from Kaisercraft, with some additions on the "just Perfect" LO from LYB and Crate Paper.  It just shows how you may think that one range is not for you but quite often you can select one element from a range and have a completey different LO to what you might have thought!

Banner Layout completed

I have finished my layout with banners.  It took a little longer than I first thought because I kept changing what I wanted in the LO.  Originally I thought that I would do some stamping but none of the stamps that I had really fitted.  I then went through my stash and found some die cuts that were the right colours and I thought that they would work in place of the stamping.  I wanted something on the page that resembled fireworks so I found some chipboard stars and scrolls and arrows so altered these with ink and papers to put on the page. I still felt that the page needed something else so I made a little whirly thing (what are they called????) to go on the bottom corner of the page.  On to the next layout......

Banners!!!!

I am loving banners at the moment and they do seem to be everywhere.  I have been wanting to use a banner in a layout for a little while and when I was going through some photos the other day I found some of my eldest boy at the local show.  I thought these would be great to add a banner to.  I am using papers from the Celebration range from American Crafts. One of  the pages from this range has stars on it so I have cut some of these out to make the banner, to give a little twist to the traditional banner.  Will post layout when I have finished it, it is a bit of a work in progress at the moment as I keep thinking of things to add to it, including some stamping, so who knows when it will be truly completed????

Layout 2

Here is the second layout from the LYB Elizabeth Park range.  For this layout "Beach Babe" I used the papers Spring Song;  FlutterBy; Teal dots; and Fuchsia flowerdot  for alphas (cut from cricut machine).  I also used the LYB "Elizabeth Park" Tear out ticket book and LYB Fabric favourites.

The fabric favourites really help the layout pop.  Love them!!! Here is a close up of some of them.

I have just received my first package as Design Team member of Hobbysew Echuca.  A very exciting moment!!!  In it are the absolutely gorgeous papers from the Elizabeth Park range from Little Yellow Bicycle.  The papers are just beautiful and am especially loving the butterflies on the paper as I seem to be going through a butterfly stage with my scrapbooking!!  Also love the fabric favourites.  Cant wait to have a play around with them this weekend!
